Where to Drink Bubble Tea in London ~ Food News - Restaurant ...

Originally from Taiwan, bubble tea makes a tempting, diet-friendly replacement for your Frappuccino addiction. Ice-blended black tea or coffee is infused with milk or fruity flavours and mixed with a handful of tapioca balls (imagine a round gummi bear), which should be sucked through the oversized straw and chewed while you drink.?Sounds bizarre? It is - but in the best possible way. Here are some of our favourite places to get your fix in London:

Bubbleology
This shop in London may feature a gimmicky, mad scientist-inspired space filled with gurgling test tubes and a blackboard full of equations, but the tea lives up to the hype. 'Bubbleologists' in white lab coats have all trained under a renowned tea master in Taiwan, and the range of flavours is impressive. Stay tuned for a new branch opening soon in Notting Hill Gate (020 7494 4231).

Bobajam?
There's no shortage of choices at this authentic Asian cafe on the edge of Chinatown. Join the crowd of students queued up for bubble yoghurt teas, mint teas and juice options. There's also a wonderful section of traditional desserts on offer (020 7437 1288).

Chaboba Bubble Tea
At this colourful tea house in Camden, you'll find more unusual varieties including Crush Bubble Tea - a sort of smoothie version available in flavours like honeydew and green apple (020 7267 4719).

HK Diner?
Try an alcoholic bubble tea at this late-night Chinese restaurant (open till 4 AM) - or if staying alert is what you need, there's also a potent coffee version on the menu (020 7434 9455).

Jen Cafe?
Wash down the famous dumplings at this Chinatown institution with its traditional foam milk pearl tea (020 7287 9708).
