No new taxes and there won't be across the board cuts, that from finance minister Doug Horner as preparations continue for the release of the provincial budget in early March.
The finance minister says the province is looking for internal cuts before it would ever think of digging into taxpayers pockets.
Doug Horner also says talk of a 5 per cent cut across the board is just that, talk. He does say that everything is on the table when it comes to looking at cuts.
"We are effectively going over every line in everybody's budget and saying, is this really necessary, is this really delivering on Albertans' needs, is this something we should be doing"
Horner refuses to speculate on the size of Alberta's deficit which some critics peg at 6-billion dollars. He says the number will be known at the end of February. (bd/scb)
