It?s important to know that the older a woman is when diagnosed with a certain type of breast cancer, the more likely she may be to die from it. Dutch Researchers wanted to learn about mortality rates for Hormone Receptor-Positive Breast Cancer across age groups. They looked at data on nearly 10,000 participants over a 5-year period. The team discovered a woman had a higher risk of dying from this type of cancer if she was over 65, than under. In addition, mortality from other causes increased with age, as well as a higher risk of breast cancer relapse. Study authors say their data underlines the need for Age-Specific Breast Cancer Studies in order to improve outcomes for all patients. Findings appear in the ?Journal of the American Medical Association.? Even though, I just mentioned women, breast cancer affects men too. Always consult your medical provider if you have any questions.
